Progressing Well!

Between downpours of heavy rain, work is going well on the Brian Sloan Skills Training Centre . Since my last posting ,concrete footings called splashguards (more like our footpaths) have been made as well as plastering on the outside and inside walls . Currently work is also progressing on the concreting of the floors . There is still much to do before completion ....gutterings , and all the plastering , doors and windows to be painted.
The wet season has come earlier than expected and rainfall has been excessive.
All the children are doing well , and all have received new jackets to keep them warm.
Apart from keeping them fed, keeping them warm especially in the wet season (when temperatures drop) is very very important . We were blessed that Lanie was able to underwrite the full jacket purchase , and we also found out that Brian our Head of Building the Skills Training Centre also paid for a full set of jackets, as he was alarmed at how cold the children were. Unless you have seen it for yourself , life in this part of Africa is a case of everyday survival ....it would be a huge culture shock for especially our affluent young people to have to live in similar conditions.
We are also being impacted by world events.....World Tarrifs, War In Europe, The United Nations . Our NZ dollar and the Ugandan Shilling have both lost value and that is a real concern as each month we are struggling to keep support flowing to support these beautiful children, who are so appreciative of what strangers on the other side of the world are doing for them.
