August through September has been a busy time at the Orphanage of Hope and at the Hope Education Centre.

A new term started last Monday and unlike children in many other countries ,

the " holiday " period between terms is basically staying put doing much the same things ...without Electronic devices , visiting friends or maybe going to the movie theatre, beach or going to the lakes or to the sea side.

Our orphans have a great thirst for knowledge ...so every free moment is spent learning.

The Teachers do an amazing job and go way beyond the call of duty.

September has seen great activity in the wall Building department... this time putting over 35 metres of permanent wall along the roadside of our Orphanage..

Not only does it give privacy and protection for our children , it also means our Hens and Goats can live in safety as thieves will always seize any opportunity to steal or kill on site our valuable livestock assets.

All that remains is the clean up and the painting of the wall , that protects the plaster which in turn protects the integrity of this wall. Our builders are very skilled in what they do ...both the school buildings and now two walls are wonderfully built and we now have a learning facility that even makes some government schools pale in comparison.

The wet season is almost upon the Kabale Region which will last until December.

We now have over 10 acres of land that will grow vegetables. this month 3.5 acres will be planted with Climbing Beans, Short Beans, Peas, Irish Potatoes, Sweet Potatoes, Cabbages, Tomatoes, Scomawitch, Dodo, Egg Plants, Corn Flower, Lettuce, French Beans, Spinach and Pumpkins .

Also we have a second 10,000 Litre Water Tank that will reduce dependency on the Local Paid Water supply and ease the problem of excess water in the wet season and lack of water in the dry season.

We desperately need more people to give towards sustaining our children. Our funding base is tiny....less than 25 people ...and each month on average $15,000 NZD

($ 8500 USD ) is sent to sustain 172 Orphans , pay for teachers, maintain both the Orphanage and School and grow crops ...this month 55 essential items need to be paid for. The biggest blessing would be if new donors came on board ....either regular monthly donations or one off donations.

For New Zealand Donations the IRD grant a 30% Donations rebate.

ALL money donated reaches and benefit the children with no deductions.

We would love to hear from you.

Simply donate via the website or contact us by E mail. lindsayswalker@gmail.com

Thank you so much.
