LIFE IS LIKE A BOX OF CHOCOLATES

A lot is happening at the moment on two fronts....obviously the Ebola outbreak is of major concern as one of the borders with the DRC is only 70 kms away. People are still able to illegally enter Uganda.... sadly the border isn't a impenetrable fence ....There was talk of schools closing but thankfully the Parliament refused to agree to it ....for the time being anyway.

The second issue is that three young children were murdered at a United States created school in the Northern region. It has got the government running after their tails and coming up with massive new safety requirements .

The school in question had a fence but they left the gate open and a crazed man walked in trying to kidnap children in the end killing 3 of them.

They had no cameras or any other means of surveillance , so the Government is now saying All schools in Uganda need cameras and walled compounds.

Our school is in the process of building a 12 foot high wall covering 2.5 acres .....which should be completed in the next couple of weeks. This was a massive undertaking.

We have dogs and male security... at present as we speak we are looking at installing cameras and a monitoring system .... we would need to do both school and orphanage.

We don't have total security at the orphanage .There are gaps in the tree line. In this area which we would call rural ; animals, children and neighbours wander through .Here the type of break in is different ....The school ...thieves break in to steal items and sell to fuel a drug or alcohol addition . An Orphanage break in is to kidnap or more likely to maime and Kill. Witch Doctors and Satanic Cults that do child sacrifices are only a matter of minutes away. (we have caught several in the past trying to break into our Orphanage).

With the Ebola outbreak the Government is saying that all schools / orphanages need to have full health precautions. As a background Ebola has been in the DRC since 1975. This variant is deadly but it is transferred between humans by body fluids.

The Children will be much safer once our Wall and Security is in place.

We are also taking added precautions .

This includes A Thermal Temperature "Gun", Masks , Additional Soaps and Sanitisers. We have to teach common sense because I am sure the novelty of getting your Temperature recorded by the 172 children could give rise to every time the children have a sniffle or a cold it will be off to the hospital which costs us in each case around $300 depending on the length of time and the cause.

Just yesterday I was told a 7 year old Orphan decided to see how far up her nose she could get a stone... which resulted in hospitalisation and surgery.

Stupidy is no substitute for Common Sense ....

So that in a nutshell is a little of what I am facing ....life is a day by day struggle at times ....but believe me what the future would have been dire without the support of people like yourselves.

Be Blessed.

Lindsay.
