Can you imagine living in these conditions?
These photographs sadly show something that does not make us happy…and I am sure you would feel the same, especially when I tell you that...
We are currently focusing in the two areas in Southern Uganda of Kakuuto, Uganda and Orphanage of Hope, Kapale, Uganda.
The town of Kakuuto, South-West Uganda is one of the most impoverished areas in the world. Lying on swamp land, conditions are harsh and disease is rampant.
Much help has been provided in the way of micro-enterprise businesses and a Bakehouse which employs 18 staff and has continuuing benefits in the community. This has been a huge success as the community has risen above hardship.
There are many other areas of focus including the medical centre, church and community centre.
The Orphanage of Hope is home to over 180 orphans situated on the outskirts of Kabale, South Western Uganda. It is an area of great need. In 2018, Make My Name Count came on board to partner with the welfare of the children and develop opportunities for the orphanage to be able to support itself. As well as child sponsorship which has provided clothing, bedding and medication for the children, 8 hectares of land has been leased or purchased to provide a year round food supply for the children. In addition to vegetables, Bees and Hens have been kindly donated by kind donors but more can be done.
Land has also been bought to build a new school and we are seeking close to $390,000 to build the Hope Education centre.
